about

DJ Semah lends his prodigious talents to 4TCR with the Bed of Breaks EP.

The title track steams into the limelight with subs and breaks blazing all the way to some of that good 'ol' ardcore like it was back in 1991!
Scratch samples and dancing keys keep things interesting until phase two- the hoovers kick in!

'Hold It' switches the tempo for a lightning-fast Jungle stepper with calming ambient chords and all kinds of cool FX and a nice transition midway into a mid 90’s Jungle inspired key progression. It's time to head 'Into the darkness' with some really impressive breaks and early Suburban Base style riffs and pitched up vocals and whoops.

Lose my head opens in a similar dark fashion to the previous track plus Grandmaster Flash and Prodigy samples. Indeed, this is a very 'Prodigy' style tune with the kind of violent energy that Liam himself would surely approve of.

Things take a trippy turn on the distorted beats of Psycho. The wobbly effects, the strange vocal refrains, the oldskool acid style 4x4 kicks layered between the breaks and the funky hoovers all factor into a fun, furious journey.

How about The Akrobat for a bit of versatility? The breakbeats take a back seat in favour of bouncy techno kickdrums and manic stabs a la oldskool Scott Brown and manic they are as well as highly infectious (the good kind of infectious!) From here, we find ourselves back in the land of the broken beat with the cut-up Hip Hop influenced

You Wanna know. A DJ Tango inspired riff leads the way followed swiftly by a plethora of 'ardcore bleeps and bloops, the kind every oldskool nutter is well acquainted with. This really does sound like a long-lost remix from Formation recs circa 92! There's more Prodigy inspiration on

The New Reality with requisite 'Experience' era Prodigy uplifting synths and pianos with some seriously grimy Jungle Tekno interludes!
